CJRU Country Champs finds Winners in Tamworth

Published
Thursday, May 16, 2019

The first weekend in May kicked off what is a big month of "Country Champs" for NSW Country Juniors.

First stop was Tamworth whom hosted the Under 12, Under 13 & Under 14 age groups.

A bit of very welcome rain saw a slight delay to the set up on day 1 as new grounds were sourced - but i don't think anyone was complaining and the speed with which all three fields were set-up and dressed ready to go was of Olympic proportions.

Following two days of some fantastic rugby we saw three teams named Country Champions for 2019. Congratulations to all involved in these teams. Next stop for all competing teams are the "Positive Rugby Foundation NSWJRU State Champs" in Camden (U12), Maitlans (U13) & Orange (U14).

And we saw the first Rep team of the season announced in the NSW Country Under 14s - well done to all selected. This Rep team will work towards the Regionals at Hunters Hill on 6th/7th July before the big one at City vs Country on 4th Aug in Newcastle - both of these events brought to us by the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation.

A big thank you to all the volunteers, our host club in Tamworth and to CJRU President Mick Melino the CJRU Committee whom work tirelessly to ensure these events go on without a hitch.
