NSW Rugby Juniors is proud to congratulate Ben Gregory OAM on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of his outstanding service to rugby union and his lifelong contribution to junior rugby across New South Wales.
Ben’s connection to the game spans more than four decades and reflects a deep commitment to community volunteerism and the development of young people through rugby. His journey began as a junior player with Wellington NSW in the early 1980s followed by school rugby at Shore and senior rugby with Wellington Seniors and Woollahra Colleagues before finishing his playing career with the Hunters Hill Rugby Cats.

It was through Hunters Hill Juniors that Ben became deeply immersed in rugby administration serving more than 14 years on the committee including three years as Juniors President. His leadership care for volunteers and dedication to creating positive experiences for young players have left a lasting impact on the club. Ben remains actively involved and in 2026 will officiate his 25th Hunters Hill Dufficy Cup at Boronia Park a remarkable milestone that speaks to his enduring commitment.
Ben’s influence extended well beyond club rugby. Through leadership roles with Sydney Junior Rugby Union and NSW Rugby Juniors including five years as President he played a key role in shaping junior rugby pathways across NSW Country Sydney Juniors and NSW Schools. His work has helped strengthen participation governance and opportunity for thousands of junior players coaches and volunteers across the state.

Ben has also contributed to the broader game through roles with NSW Rugby and the NSW Waratahs always championing the importance of strong grassroots foundations.
His service has previously been recognized through Life Memberships with Hunters Hill Rugby 2014 Sydney Junior Rugby Union 2020 and NSW Rugby Juniors 2022. The awarding of the Medal of the Order of Australia is a fitting acknowledgement of Ben’s integrity generosity and unwavering dedication to junior rugby.
NSW Rugby Juniors warmly congratulates Ben Gregory on this well deserved honour and thanks him for the legacy he continues to build within our rugby community.
