Following the recent NSW Schoolboys trials at Waratahs HQ, Daceyville the selectors chose their two NSW Schoolboys teams for both the Opens and Under 16s.

The U16 teams were not announced immediately but were withheld until Sydney Juniors & Country Juniors had played their selection trials at the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation 2019 Junior Regionals whcih were held on 6/7 July at Grantham Reserve.

Once the Regionals were completed the selectors for SJRU and SJRU finalized their squads and along side NSW Schools they all lodged them with NSWRU whom checked them all for any common players. Common players are kids that play both club rugby and school rugby and are therefore eligible for both REP pathways. Under an MOU between NSW Schools, SJRU and CJRU the announcement of teams is withheld until these common players are identified. The MOU states on how these players will be allocated and in 2019 it meant that NSW Schools had the first pick over CJRU, and SJRU had first pick over NSW Schools on any common players - from there it is just schoolyard picks until the common players are allocated. All affiliates then bring in shadow players to fill any voids created.
